Music, Maestro, please.
Let us sing and we’re happy.
We hear music and we love a piano.
Of thee we sing; sing, sing, sing.
We’ve heard that song before
and if we can’t sing it we’ll simply have to swing it.
Let us entertain you
with a song in our hearts
and we’ll keep coming back like a song.
We’re singing in the rain,
one of those songs or just a song at twilight.
The hills are alive with the sound of music.
And the song is us.
Stephen and Valerie Fuchs Kravette have been performers and entertainers since they were teenagers. Both are dedicated to sharing and preserving all the classic songs in the Great American Songbook. The music of their lives is the music of the Jazz Age, the Depression, World War I and II, and a few years just before and just beyond. Stage, Screen, or Tin Pan Alley, if it’s from the golden age of popular songs, they probably know it and can sing it for you.
Valerie is an actress as well as a cabaret entertainer and jazz singer. Stephen has performed in three traditional jazz bands and as a soloist. Together, their programs range from single sets to full evenings. Their songlists contain a varied and harmonious selection that people remember - and love. Usually Valerie sings and Stephen accompanies her on piano or keyboard. Sometimes they duet. Sometimes, on request, they perform on ukuleles. Sometimes the audience sings along. Always, they’re engaging, inspiring, and fun.
